Famous architectural design companies and designers from home and abroad were invited to participate in the International Short-listed Competition for Conceptual Design for Reconstruction and Expansion of Hunan Provincial Museum.

The News Conference and Signing Ceremony of the International Short-listed Competition for Conceptual Design for Reconstruction and Expansion of Hunan Provincial Museum was held in Changsha on December 10. Seven famous architectural design companies from home and abroad including Germany GMP Architects and Hunan Provincial Architectural Design Institute, and designers were invited to participate in this competition.

Guo Kailang, vice governor of Hunan Province, met with those architectural designers at the ceremony. He expressed his hope that these short-listed designers will design world-class architectures embodying Huxiang Hunan culture and meeting international standards.
Among the seven invited companies, five signed agreements with Hunan Provincial Museum, getting ready to vie for the project.
Representatives of Zaha Hadid Architects based in London and Architecture-Studio located in Paris were absent due to fight delays. This marked the project of reconstructing and expanding the museum was officially launched. It is predicted that the short-listed designs will be determined and exhibited to the public next March.
