Works Appraisal for Lotus Prize 2010 Started

The final appraisal and defense for works from the second LotusPrize International Industrial Design and Innovation Competition was proceeding on Dec. 18.

The judges and the designers exchanged the ideas about the application of new technology, new energy, new materials and new crafts during the defense.

The competition, organized by the Hunan Provincial People's Government, is held once every two years. The awarding ceremony this year was held on Dec. 19. The theme of the current competition is "Wise Life, Harmonious Innovation". Compared with that in 2008, this competition put more emphasis on companies' participation, fusion of design and industry and the international promotion of the designed products.

The competition received 3,501 pieces of works from eleven countries and regions. 2,664 of the total 3,362 pieces of works in the Open Group were submitted through the Internet and 698 of them were mailed by colleges and universities. The Enterprise Group received 139 pieces of works from 50 enterprises in Hunan.
