Changsha Unveils Program to Benefit Farmers as New Year Approaches

Changsha started the city s 2011 program under which officials, doctors, scientists and college students go to the countryside to share scientific and literacy knowledge and offer medical service to farmers in Donghutang Town of Ningxiang County on the morning of Dec.28. This program has been carried out in the city for 15 consecutive years.
Some municipal leaders including Chen Zehui, He Jiahua and Zhong Xinlian attended the starting ceremony.
It was revealed that money and materials worth nearly 500,000 yuan were donated by more than 10 municipal departments to Donghutang Town. Artists from the Changsha Song & Dance Theatre also presented fantastic performances to the local farmers.
Since the launch of this program in the city in 1996, farmers have been enjoying more practical benefits from various activities with larger scales.
After the starting ceremony, departments at different levels across the city will undertake their tasks and fulfill their responsibilities specified in the program. They will do their best to enable more farmers to enjoy government s quality services. Great efforts will be exerted so that farmers can fully benefit from the social and economic development of the city.
