Australia and Zhuzhou City will make joint efforts to deal with the environmental pollution in Qingshuitang Industrial Park. Based on the Action Plan for Promoting Environmental Protection Cooperation which was signed between Australian Trade Commission and Management Committee of Qingshuitang Circular Economy Industrial Park on February 15th, the initial cooperative project will be launched in the first half of this year. Australian ambassador to China Laurie Smith, counsellor Du Dawei, and Zhuzhou Mayor Wang Qun attended the signing ceremony.
Mayor Wang addressed that this cooperation provided a historical opportunity to improve the ecological environment in Qingshuitang. He is looking forward to dealing with environmental problems with Australia so as to enjoy clear water, blue sky and fresh air together.
The cooperation involves the comprehensive treatment of 2.1 million tons of wastes with heavy metals discarded in the past, the treatment of water and sediments pollution caused by heavy metals, the construction of a wetland park, the remediation and exploitation of 4.8 square kilometers of contaminated sites which were left after closing 34 enterprises in the core area of Qingshuitang Industrial Park, and the planning, design and construction of 3 isolation belts for ecological restoration with a total length of 8.5 kilometers.
