Cyclists travelling through Songshan Lake Science & Technology Park,Dongguan
The Administrative Committee of Songshan Lake Science & Technology Park have announced that its greenway corridor will be opened this May. It will be the longest greenway in Dongguan, stretching 122 kilometers.
More than 10 public bicycle stations with 1,500 bicycles will be established in the first phase where pedestrians can hire bicycles either for work or play with IC cards and ride bicycles for free within a limited time. The greenway running through trees and flowers will be the first low-carbon environment-friendly greenway in Guangdong Province that provides both saving and leasing services for free.
The greenway system will include the eco-tourism greenway in Binghu Area connecting sightseeing spots in Songshan Lake and the main road traffic greenway running through more densely populated areas.
Tourists who use the greenway for the first time will be required to apply for a public bicycle IC card with a refundable deposit of about 400 yuan. Users can unlock the bicycle with the IC card. The bicycle can be used for free for the first hour. Users can then change to another bicycle, still for free, at station timed to be about 40 minutes' ride up or down the track.
The construction of the 30 km stretch of greenway has been completed, said an official from the Songshan Lake Forestry Institute.
