The 35TH Anniversary of Beijing No.55 High School s Opening Up was held on December 22, 2010. The Celebration Gala included two parts. The first half was themed with Chinese Rhyme including performances such as the Ovation of Drumbeat, Hook-on Performance of Beijing Opera, Ramie Plants Rolling on in Waves and Ensemble of Orchestral music. The second half was Colorful World with performances from different countries: Japanese folk song and dance, Korean songs, Multi-country Street Dances, performances by a band which plays music with electronic instruments and Christmas songs. The characteristics of Dngcheng District s International Education were fully expressed: excellent, professional and passionate.
It is reported that the number of international students at Beijing No.55 High School has increased from 14 to today s 500 since its opening up in 1975. The school is authorized to issue international diplomas recognized by both Ministry of Education of PRC and its foreign counterparts, a part of its multi-channels to train talents. The school adheres to the philosophy to run the school: the true sense of international education, education for all-round development, fully inclusive and equitable education with both Chinese characteristics and foreign language learning, which took the lead in international education of Beijing and all over China.
After the merge of the previous Dongcheng District and Chongwen District, the school continues to promote its philosophy of education for international diploma, which fully expresses the new idea of developing international education to build a beautiful Dongcheng District.
