On October 13, 2008, Prof. Donald, Dean of the Department of Sociology of Georgia State University, as well as Associate Prof. Zhan Heying and other two associate professors came to School of Management of CQMU to make academic exchanges. During their visit, they first visited Geriatric Dept. of the First Affiliated Hospital of CQMU. And then in the evening, all the professors gave lectures respectively on urban sociology and old-age problems in the United States. Teachers and postgraduates of School of Management as well as of other colleges and departments attended the lectures.
Prof. Donald gave a brief introduction to the development of the urban sociology in America. He especially focused his lecture on the following three perspectives: urban ecology and demography, urban social structure and urban social psychology.
Associate Prof. Zhan Heying gave a lecture entitled ???Social Gerontology and the Macro- & Micro-economic Prospects between America and China???. The lecture covered the following aspects: the definition of social gerontology, the teaching contents of social gerontology, the relationship between social gerontology and American macro- & micro-economics, the employment of the social gerontology majors, and the present situation of social gerontology. In the interaction with the students after the lecture, Associate Prof. Zhan Heying also introduced the current old-age pension model in America, which is helpful in the study of China???s pension model.
