On January 17 2011, University President Professor Chen Xin met on the University City campus with a three-member Hong Kong delegation led by Professor Philip C.H. CHAN, Deputy President and Provost of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and had a detailed discussion on establishment of joint provincial key labs and joint doctoral and master programs.
Professor Chen Xin stressed that the two universities had much in common in academic setting and characteristics. Upon establishment of joint labs on energy-saving equipment, precision manufacturing and high-performance structural materials, the two universities could jointly apply for national, provincial and industrial research programs and carry out further cooperation on scientific research and joint doctoral program. Professor Philip C.H. CHAN agreed with Professor Chen Xin. He believed that the two universities cooperation would be a win-win cooperation. The two sides agreed to carry out regular academic exchanges of professors.
After the meeting, the guests visited the labs of Faculty of Electromechanical Engineering and Faculty of Automation.
