The 6th China-ASEAN Exposition (CAEXPO) was held in Nanning, capital of southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from Oct. 20 to 24, 2009. SCAU s 4GZ-56 type Crawler Combine Sugarcane Harvester, product of a research project supported by the Fund for Agricultural Science and Technology Transfers, was on display at the Pavilion of High-tech of the exposition.
All the exhibits on display at the fair from Guangdong Province were selected and inspected by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology after strict screening. SCAU s sugarcane Harvester was arranged to be shown at the section named modern agricultural equipment. This is the 3rd time SCAU was invited for the fair, and for three consecutive times, SCAU has developed new machinery to be exhibited. The harvester not only caught the attention of foreign buyers, but also roused interests from local businesses, as Guangxi represents the largest sugarcane planting region in China. SCAU s booth was able to showcase the university s technological achievements by means of sample machines, posters and promotion pamphlets, which achieved high publicity and spread SCAU s name among the fair participants.
The China-ASEAN Expo has convened six sessions since 2004. The theme of this year s Pavilion of High-tech is Applicable Agricultural Technology , which aims to build up cooperative platforms to facilitate scientic and technological collaborations and transfers in agricultural sector between China and the ASEAN countries in a period characterized by the global financial crisis.
