In order to promote the academic and scientific exchanges between SCAU and Australian universities and to deepen the internationalization of SCAU, a delegation of SCAU headed by President Chen Xiaoyang visited the University of Western Australia, the International Institute of Business & Technology, University of Canberra, and EdithCowanUniversity of Australia from August 2 to August 10.
In University of Western Australia, Chen held in-depth talks with Vice-Chancellor Alan Robson on academic and scientific exchanges between the two universities. The two sides achieved a broad consensus and signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement. Chen also met with deans of faculties and heads of schools, exchanged views with them and visited their laboratories.
In the International Institute of Business & Technology, Chen talked with Chairman Dr. Glenn Watkins and Vice-chairman Dr. Xu Xingkui. The two institutions agreed to cooperate adopting 1 + 3 and 2 + 10 training modes at undergraduate and graduate levels respectively. Concrete cooperative programs and mechanisms were formed.
In the capital city of Australia, the delegation visited the University of Canberra. Pro Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President, Prof. Carole Kayrooz and Dr. Jules Wills, Director of Marketing and International, met with Chen and discussed issues on teaching and cooperation. The two parties signed a cooperative agreement which allowed the co-training of undergraduates by way of mutually recognizing the credits given by each university.
The delegation also visited EdithCowanUniversity. Prof. Tony Watson, Vice-Chancellor of the University, and Mr. John Wade, Director of International Department, met with the delegation and held talks and reached a cooperation intention.
During his visit in Australia, President Chen also met with Dr. Wu Xiaming, Ding Ying Lecture Professor of SCAU and Principal Research Scientists of CSIRO.
