On November 3rd, Zhang Jianxiang, Vice President of SNNU, received a 7-member delegation from University of Idaho (UI) on Yanta Campus. The two parties held negotiations on issues mutually concerned and signed a formal Cooperation Memorandum.
Mr. Zhang firstly extended warm welcome to the guests and introduced the development of personnel training, subject structure and international communication of SNNU. Professor Baker, Executive Vice President of UI, also introduced the history, dominant subjects as well as international exchanges of his university.
At the signing ceremony, Zhang proposed that SNNU and UI may further strengthen the communication and cooperation in four aspects, namely the construction of teacher education platform and enhancement of exchanges in dominant subjects such as education and media; diversification of talent training approaches; student exchanges as well as co-establishment of Confucius College. Showing agreement to these suggestions, Professor Bakers also pointed that the two universities could also strengthen the cooperation in scientific research fields and establish a long-term friendly cooperative relationship in the future.
With mutual understanding, the two parties further negotiated the similarities and differences in pedagogical development and direction of scientific research. Zhang Jiancheng, Dean of International Communication and Cooperation Department of SNNU, discussed the possibility of implementing 3+1+1 student training model and co-establishing research centers on the two universities dominant subjects. Dang Huaixing, Director of Teaching Affaires Office, introduced SNNU s innovation in teacher capacity cultivation and expected cooperation with UI in this field.
Based on the negotiation, Mr. Zhang and Mr. Baker, on behalf of their respective universities, signed Cooperation Memorandum at the ceremony, marking the establishment of cooperative relationship between the two schools. (Trans. Xue Wenjuan)
