Academician Fu Hengzhi Gives a Lecture on the Chang'an Campus

On the evening of December 22, Academician Fu Hengzhi gave a lecture at the Materials Science Forum of the 14th Postgraduate Academic Annual Conference.

Academician Fu lectured on Materials Science Development and Innovative Talent Training. He began with President Hu Jintao s address on Innovative Talent Education. Professor Fu gave examples on the materials science innovative talents education and analyzed the dialectical relationship between testing-purpose education and creative learning.

On creative education in the field of materials science, Professor Fu presented the history of materials science development, the status of materials science in the world s prestigious universities as well as their teaching plans.

Professor Fu also emphasized on cognition, standard, content, attitude and the way of thinking, contrasted testing-purpose education with innovative education and showed that learning meant not only to be bold and good at innovation but also to do it step by step. Professor Fu also quoted a famous Chinese saying that gaining new knowledge through reviewing the already-known and inheriting the past for creating the future.

Professor Fu hoped that students could lay a solid foundation for future learning, master scientific methods of learning, and enhance their ability of exploration to become innovative. He emphasized that students should be assiduous, indomitable and bold to challenge and overcome difficulties, thereby reaching the summit of science.
