UTBM Vice President Attends NPU Student s Dissertation Defense

A delegation headed by the Vice President of UTMB, Professor Abdellatif Miraoui, visited NPU from January 11 to 12 to attend the PhD dissertation defense of a NPU PhD candidate Huangfu Yigeng, who was jointly supervised by Professor Abdellatif Miraoui and NPU Professor Liu Weiguo. The other two delegation members were Professor Mohamed Gabsi from the Ecole Normale Superieure de Paris, and Professor Taha Boukhobza from the University of Nancy.

The French delegation met with Professor Wang Wei, the Vice President of NPU on January 12, who gave an overview of NPU and the university s close friendship with the UT group. He talked about the university s international joint educational programs with French universities under the Postgraduate Program by the Chinese Ministry of Education, and other programs such as the Sino-French PhD School and the UT-INSA Programs which have provided exceptional opportunities to the NPU students.

NPU also has received more than ten students from UTMB in the past few years. Currently, NPU has one joint research institute with UTMB, which is The Sino-French Concurrent Engineering Laboratory.

Professor Miraoui also gave a brief introduction to UTMB and mentioned that the university was also strong in many other fields such as materials science in which the two universities could cooperate. He also talked about the possibility of establishing another joint research institute with NPU in the field of automation. The both sides were expecting for further cooperation with each other in a wider range of variety.
