Professor Ye Jinfu Visits Dutch and German Universities and Institutions

In response to the invitation of TU Delft, DLR and TU Braunschweig, a NPU delegation headed by Professor Ye Jinfu, Chairman of the NPU Board of Trustees, visited these three universities and research institute from 28th Nov. to 7th Dec.

TU Delft is a research-oriented university with rich resources especially in aerospace field, which has a lotof similarities to NPU. This is another top-level official visit since 2008 when NPU signed a MOU with TU Delft. The Vice President Professor Jacob Fokkema had a meeting with Chairman Ye and both sides recalled the cooperation in the past year and expressed the wishes to further the cooperation to deep levels under the framework of the MOU.

Chairman Ye, accompanied by Professor Li Huaxing and Professor Yang Yong paid a visit to the Wind Tunnel Labs, the Fluid Dynamic Lab and knew more about the research and teaching conditions in the university. The two sides discussed such matters as exchange of students, the joint research, and the exchange of scholars.

Chairman Ye also had a talk with the NPU teachers and students who are studying at TU Delft and inquired their studies and lives.

When in Germany, the delegation visited the DLR and TU Braunschweig. NPU has had the cooperation with the two institutions for more than 20 years. Ye s visit promoted the relations to a higher level.

In TU Braunschweig, the President Professor Bahadir in charge of foreign affairs introduced in details the university and Chairman Ye invited the president and vice president to visit NPU in the first half of next year and they accepted the invitation with great pleasure. Both sides hoped to have collaborations on exchange of students and teachers, on joint research and exchange of publications. Chairman Ye, on behalf of NPU signed a MOU with TU Braunschweig, which would lay a foundation for further cooperation in the future.

In Germany, the delegation also met with the foreign experts of NPU --- Professor Gash, winner of the National Friendship Award 2009 and other experts and scientists who have close collaborations with our university. Professor Liao Mingfu from the School of Power and Energy also reported his joint research in international wind power projects to Chairman Ye.

The significance of this visit is to make NPU know more about the international research-oriented universities in Europe and lays a good foundation for NPU to develop lubricate exchanges with partners in aeronautic and astronautic fields. The visit also fasters the pace of internalization of NPU and pushes the goal to construct a university with international fame forward greatly.
