2010 National Symposium on Tourism Information Science Held in SNNU

On October 30, the 2010 National Symposium on Tourism Information Science was held in Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU). The Symposium is sponsored by College of Tourism and Environment of SNNU and supported by Shaanxi Tourism Administration and Xi an Tourism Administration.

The distinguished guests included Professor Jiang Xiule, Secretary of the Party Committee of SNNU, Professor Sun Jiulin, academician of both Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Dai Bin, President of China Tourism Academy, Chen Qingliang, Deputy Director of Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Administration, Zhou Aiquan, Director of Xi an Tourism Administration, Professor Dong Zhibao, Cheung Kong Scholar of SNNU, Professor Feng Qi, a member of Shaanxi Hundred Talents Program , Professor Zhang Hui, a member of Shaanxi Scholar Program Professor Ma Yaofeng and Professor Sun Gennian from College of Tourism and Environment, Professor Ma Ruiying, Head of Social Science Department of SNNU. Over 100 scholars and postgraduates from all over the country also attended the symposium.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Xue Dongqian, Dean of the College of Tourism and Environment. At the opening ceremony, Jiang Xiule, Secretary of the Party Committee, delivered a welcome speech. He spoke highly of the symposium and pointed out that the advance of tourism science and tourism information technology would surely have a positive impact on the development of tourism.

Academician Sun Jiulin emphasized that the development of tourism science met the needs of modern society and would have a far-reaching impact on domestic tourism. Besides, Chen Qingliang, Deputy Director of Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Administration, introduced the current situation of tourism in Shaanxi and expected that the experts would provide valuable suggestions for the development of Shaanxi tourism.

The keynote speeches of the symposium were chaired by Zhang Hui, a distinguished professor of Shaanxi Scholar Program , Zhao Zhenbin, Vice Dean of College of Tourism and Environment and Professor Wang Zhaofeng, Head of Science and Technology Department of Jishou University respectively. The experts and scholars present at the symposium delivered their reports and gave detailed answers to questions.

Followed by the keynote speeches, participants also had discussions in sessions on the themes of Informatization and the Development of Tourism and The Application of Tourism Information and Network Marketing . Meanwhile, the participants also held heated discussions on the background, function and organization of the foundation of Midwest Forum on the Development of China Tourism .
