From September 25 to 26, the 5th East-Asian International Symposium on Teacher Education Research was held in Beijing Normal University (BNU). The symposium was attended by presidents, vice-presidents and scholars from normal universities and teaching universities in Japan, Korea, and China. The present delegates of Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU) were Prof. Si Xiaohong, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, Prof. Tian Jianrong, Vice Dean of College of Education, and relevant personnel of Office for Teacher Education.
The theme for this symposium is Trend and Challenges for Teacher Education in Information Age . It was in deep discussion on such topic as the current situation and problems of teacher training, challenges of information technology and the future trend for teacher education. Delegations from various universities shared each other s schooling positioning, experience and specific approach on management system and mechanics reform. Prof. Tian Jianrong gave a lecture Reform of Evaluation for Teacher Education in Information Age which aroused a widespread concern. SNNU delegation and delegates from Japan, Korea, and other universities in China had an overall discussion on reform and research on teacher education. The Presidents Conference of International Consortium for University of Education in East Asia was also held during the meeting. The next symposium will be held in June next year at Seoul National University of Education in Korea. (Trans. Xue Wensi)
