Two English Textbooks for Graduates Published at Science Press

This August witnessed the publication of two textbooks for graduates by Science Press, namely English for Full-time Postgraduates Degree and English for Self-education.

This series of textbooks, being selected as the Outstanding Textbooks for Postgraduates financed by Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU) in 2009, were attached much importance by the vice-chancellor Professor Xiao Zhenghong. With the instruction of Professor Yang Zupei, Director of Graduates Department, the books were chiefly compiled by Professor Bai Jingyu and his team. Up to now, the books have been issued all over China and applied as the textbook among new graduates enrolled in 2010.

The compilation and publication of the two books meet the needs of the on-going renovation of postgraduate education in China. According to the No.1 document of 2009 released by the Ministry of Education, from 2009 on, postgraduates degrees are divided into academic degrees and professional degrees. Thus, the training models and courses would change accordingly, resulting in the shortage of qualified English textbooks for the full-time graduates. To solve the problem and to implement the renovation of the Ministry of Education, Postgraduates Department of SNNU set out the program timely to compile and publish English textbooks for full-time postgraduates, which is ahead of all other universities in Shaanxi Province, and is also among the first ones in China.
