Russian Department Students to LMSU Summer School Returns

Write: Avoca [2011-05-20]

This year has been set by the Chinese and Russian governments as Year of Chinese in Russia. In August 3rd, at the invitation of Institute of Asian and African Studies (IAA), Lomonosov Moscow State University (LMSU), 5 Russian-major students from School of Foreign Languages in Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU) had a three-week summer school in Moscow. It was the first time that SNNU cooperated with LMSU, one of the best universities in Russia and in the whole world. It was also the first time that Russian major students from SNNU went abroad to participate in international exchanges.

During the trip in LMSU, the students were warmly received. In addition to well-designed spoken and written Russian courses, the Moscow Summer School also arranged a series of lectures for students only. The three weeks stay in the summer school has greatly improved the students speaking and listening capability, helped them achieve a more profound understanding of Russian culture, and greatly enhanced their interest in learning Russian. The students were also praised by teachers in LMSU, IAA for their extraordinary performance.

In their spare time the students from SNNU, with the company of their counterparts in LMSU, visited many historical sites in Moscow. In addition, they also actively interacted with overseas students from other countries, having a direct contact and better understanding of the diversified cultures in the world.

The trip to Moscow enriched the participants life experience, broadened their horizons, and improved their command of Russian language, but also paved a way for further cooperation between LSMU and SNNU. (Trans. Du Qiong)
