Cheung Kong Scholar Professor Jie Wanqi Gave a Lecture

Cheung Kong Scholar Professor Jie Wanqi gave a lecture for the students in materials science on the evening of December 15, 2009. He lectured on the development of materials science and technology. Professor Jie explained in simple words the close relation between materials science and the development of human beings civilization, as well as the modern scientific and technological advancement, the scope of materials science, the classification of materials, materials preparation, forming and processing.

He said that materials science was not only one of the three pillars of the present-day civilization but also the technological forerunner of modern science and technology. Professor Jie demonstrated the close connection of materials with human life and social-economic development by examples, availing the students of a clearer understanding of materials development and high-tech materials.
