On the afternoon of April 30, the awarding ceremony of the 3rd SCUT "Samsung Scholarship" was held at conference room 107 of Shaw Building of Science. CHEN Zi and other 14 students were granted this scholarship.
On behalf of SCUT, ZHANG Zhen-gang extended a warm welcome to the visit of Chairman LIU Xiaoxing and his delegation. He introduced to the guests the achievements SCUT had made in talent training, scientific research and social service in recent years, hoping that SCUT and Samsung could establish a long-term corporation in education & scientific research. He also hoped that the award-winning students would be active in learning and pay back to society with their good performance.
LIU Xiaoxing made an introduction of the development of Samsung, China, and extended his best wishes to the award-winning students. As a representative of all the 15 award-winning students, PAN Mi, an undergraduate of grade 2007 from School of Automation Science and Engineering, expressed their appreciation for Samsung and the teachers that had taught and trained them.
It is reported that SCUT Samsung Scholarship was initiated in 2008 and granted each year to 15 students with good academic and moral performance, so as to encourage SCUT students to work hard to achieve success.
