Earth Hour 2010, the global sustainability event, took place on Saturday 27 March at 8:30pm. Yunyuan Canteen turned off the lights and the sparkling candles took the place.
Students posed the candles in the shape of "60" to raise the awareness that contributions could be made to energy conservation by switching off for 60 minutes. Many students were pleased to join the celebration and regarded it as a meaningful and romantic candlelight night.
It is believed that after the event more students will contemplate on how to protect our earth and create a sustainable future for our planet, which is more than switching off lights for one hour once a year.
