A delegation headed by Jay W. Goff, the deputy dean of Dean s Office of Missouri University of Science & Technology (MST) visited CUP on March 24th, which was MST s first visit to CUP since the two parties signed into the Agreement of the Program of 2+2 Joint Education.
Prof. Wang Ruihe, the vice president of CUP, met the delegation on Qingdao campus and made a brief introduction of CUP on its history, faculty, discipline structure, scientific research, etc. The delegation met some teachers and students applicants from the College of Geo-resources & Information thereafter and presented some facts about MST, as well as the details of the Program of Joint Education. Prof. Yin Xingyao, the head of the College of Geo-resources & Information guided the delegation to visit the teaching laboratories, which were applauded by Jay and his delegation.
CUP and MST came into an agreement on the Program of 2+2 Joint Education in December 2009, which involves 2 years study at CUP followed by another 2 years study at MST. The students meeting with the requirements of both universities will be granted with double bachelor degrees. Over 10 students are going to study at MST from August 2010.
MST was founded in 1870 as the Missouri School of Mines, and became Missouri University of Science & Technology in 2008. It has 6,800 students including 5,000 undergraduates and 1,800 postgraduates. 2MST is one of U.S. News & World Report s top 45 national universities, as ranked by the guidance counselors at America s Top 800 high schools in 2009, and a top 55 engineering school by U.S. News & World Report s America s Best Colleges in 2008.
