On March 18th, a delegation of seven from Feng Chia University led by President Pao-Long Chang visited SDU to promote academic communication and cooperation between the two universities. Xu Xianming, the President of SDU, met with the delegation. President Xu extended a welcome to the delegation and expressed his appreciation for Feng Chia University in fostering intercollegiate academic communication. He briefly introduced the history, present situation and future plan of academic development of SDU. Both presidents agreed to strengthen students exchange between the two universities. Prof. Pao-Long Chang praised exchange students of SDU in Taiwan for their positive influence on Taiwanese students, and he agreed to encourage students of Feng Chia University to study in SDU as exchange students. The two universities reached an agreement on implementing graduate students double major project. During the visit, the delegation discussed with relevant staff of the Graduate School, the School of Economics, the School of Literature and Journalism on graduate students double major project, especially on inter-connection of curriculum for graduate students. The two universities agreed on a joint graduate student cultivation plan and decided to implement a trial operation in majors such as Chinese Classical Literature and Finance and Taxation. The delegation also met with representatives the of School of Computer Science and Technology, the School of Economics and the Academic Research Office and reached agreements on cooperation in fields such as materials, energy, environment and information security. During the visit, the delegation met students who had studied in Feng Chia University as exchange students. Prof. Pao-Long Chang encouraged them to keep in touch with teachers and students of Feng Chia University. Other members of the delegation were Prof. Yuan-Tong Lee from the Department of Accounting, the Director of the Mainland Affairs Office Dr. Hui-Kuang Yu, the Executive Assistant to the President Prof. Kuo-Hao Tang, and the Dean of the Office of Information Technology Prof. Wei-Bin Lee.
