On March 11th, Dr. Andrew J. Deeks, the Pro-vice Chancellor of the University of Durham and Ms. Sharne Procter, the Director of International Office, visited SDU. President Xu Xianming and Vice-president Zhang Yun met with the guests. President Xu introduced the present SDU academic subjects and development plans to the guests, hoping comprehensive intercollegiate cooperation can be established between SDU and the University of Durham by strengthening exchanges in the fields of archaeology, law, history, mathematics, and civil engineering. Zhang Yun briefed the guests on the importance that SDU attaches to international communication, and looked forward to all-round exchanges between the two universities including student cultivation, personnel exchange, and research cooperation. Also, the delegation met with representatives from the School of Mathematics, theLaw School, the School of History, and the School of Civil Engineering. Subjects, cooperation and exchange initiatives, mutual student cultivation and research collaboration were discussed. For the School of Civil Engineering, the two sides discussed cooperative intentions in the fields of geology, calamity, and risk management.
