International Seminar of Methane Emission Drop Technology on Oil Held in UPC

From April 17th to 18th, the International Seminar of Methane Emission Drop Technology on Oil was convened in China University of Petroleum(UPC).
The siminar was hosted by UPC, US Environmental Protection Agency(EPA), Methane to Markets Parternership, US RTI International Research center, with delegates from the agencies such as secretariet attached to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCC), EPA, US RTI International Research Center, China Offshore Oil Association, China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, China Petrification Economic Technology Research Institute, magazine publishers of Oil Gasfield Surface Engineering, International Petroleum Economics and Oil and Gas Storage and Transportation, and numerous Clean Development Mechanism(CDM) developing agencies. Wang Ruihe, vice-president of UPC addressed the opening of the seminar.
The main topics covered in the seminar include: methane emission drop potential in oil and gas system of China, methane leak source and leak check technology in the process of oil manufacturing, handling, storage and transportation and distribution; methane emission decrease measures of oil and gas system; CDM research and development of oil and gas system; CDM research implication and financing; Methane to Markets Parternership etc. The professional from home and abroad exchanged the techniques and experience of methane emission drop with low cost, and high efficiency in the system of oil and gas from the perspective of technology, economy and policies. Authorities from the Southwestern Branch of China Petroleum Company and China Petroleum Security Environmental Protection Technology Research introduced what China Petroleum Company has done in methane emission degradation in accordance with the applied cases, which drew great attention of the delegates.
