July 1st witnessed a NZEC and COACH joint meeting of Assessments of CO2 Storage Capacities in CUP (Huadong). Over 20 experts from BGS (British Geological Survey), BRGM (Bureau de Recherches G ologiques et Mini res), BP (British Petroleum Company), MST (the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People s Republic of China), CUP(Beijing), IGGCAS (Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Tsinghua University attended the meeting.
Global warming and emission reducing attract great attention internationally, which are also the concerns of Chinese government. China has given its attention on CO2 emission since 2003. CUP is among the earliest universities who started up the study of CO2 Storage Capacities. 3 projects were involved in this meeting: COACH, GEOCAPACITY and NZEC.
