NJU and G ttingen University Celebrate 25 Years of Successful Partnership

NJU  and  G  ttingen  University  Celebrate  25  Years  of  Successful  Partnership
On October 24 Nanjing University (NJU) and the University of G ttingen held a celebration at NJU s Great Hall to commemorate their 25 years of university partnership as well as the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Sino-German Institute for Legal Studies.
Nanjing University President Chen Jun, G ttingen University President Kurt von Figura, former Chinese Ambassador to Germany Ma Canrong, and Consul General of Germany in Shanghai Albrecht von der Heyden attended and addressed the celebration.
To expand the two university s cooperation, Prof. Chen Jun and Prof. Kurt von Figura signed four agreements at the celebration, concerning student exchanges, German language studies, and the continuation of the joint institutes in the areas of law and intercultural German studies.
The highlight of the ceremony was when Nanjing University named Ambassador Ma Canrong the Emeritus Director of the Sino-German Institute for Legal Studies.
Later in the afternoon the Chinese Alumni Association of the University of G ttingen was founded. Regional associations are to be set up in Beijing, Nanjing, Xi an, Guangzhou, Shenyang and Hong Kong.
Six workshops took place later in the fields of law, geosciences, physics, informatics, economics, chemistry and the intercultural German studies. The workshops serve as an academic platform for Chinese scholars and their German counterparts to present their research progress and exchange ideas with each other.
