A calligraphic exhibition reflecting the appeal of Poyang is currently on display at Hall 4 since July 19 until July 26, 2010. Three local calligraphers including Huang Side, Zhang Jianrui and Cao Yuansheng exhibit a total of nearly 50 works

The three artists boast different style: Huang Side is skilled in ancient Chinese characters especially in 1.inscriptions on ancient bronze objects; Cao Yuansheng is accomplished in the traditional Chinese copybook; and Zhang Jianrui has created the works which can not be read but played through unique Guqin musical notations. The exhibits comprise a wide range of categories from seal characters and inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells to official scripts and cursive scripts.

Poyang is capital of Raozhou in the ancient time, where a number of calligraphers traveled including Yan zhenqing, Fan Zhongyan, Huang Tingjian, Jiang Baishi and Zhao Zhiqian. The exhibition is hoped to carry forward the profound culture of Poyang as one of a series of cultural events about the construction of Poyang Lake ecological and economic zone.
