An exhibition entitled Pen and Ink and lighting effect is currently on display at Hall 5 since Mar. 2 until Mar. 15. It is the first solo exhibition held in Beijing since Qu Leilei, chairman of the Artists Association of the Traditional Chinese Painting in the UK for the past three decades. The exhibition showcases a total of four sections, one of which is a series of newly-creation named Millennium Empire. He adopts the technique of the Surrealism and presents his thought and explanation of the history.
Born in 1951, Qu Leilei is son of Qu Bo, the composer of a famous TV drama named Tracks in the snowy forest. Based in the UK since 1985, he made a hit through many a series of paintings, including The British in my eyes and England scenery . His artworks are collected by a number of museums and Prince Charles. In the meantime, he has been devoted to spreading the traditional Chinese art and culture and was awarded the Education Prize by the British government. The artist is also visiting lecturer on the Chinese art for a number of organizations, such as The British Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum and Sotheby's.
