Sponsored by China Culture News and China Cultural Heritage Weekly, an exhibition is currently on display at Hall 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 until Jan. 19, 2011 to showcase nearly 200 artworks about Chinese famous cultural and historical streets.
With great support from the Ministry and State Administration of Cultural Heritage, two newspaper groups of China Culture News and China Cultural Heritage Weekly have carried out a campaign to value Chinese famous streets with historical and cultural relics since 2008. With the candidates of more than 400 streets from over 20 provinces and cities and the votes from more than 7.
4 million people, the campaign finally selected a total of twenty representative streets, including the Street of Directorate of Imperial Academy in Beijing, Three Lanes and Seven Alleys in Fuzhou and Pingjiang Street in Suzhou. The campaign will promote the protection of such famous streets.
The exhibition is important part of the undertaking of protection and promotion of the historical and cultural streets. Renowned artists have been invited to reflect the unique appeal of the famous streets through different forms, such as paintings, calligraphic works, photograph, objects. Nearly 200 artworks have been collected by hundreds of artists across the country, including Xie Chensheng, Luo Zhewen, Feng Qiyong and Feng Yuan.
The exhibition opens at Hall 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 until Jan. 19, 2011.
