Canadians to pay for UAE visa

Canadian citizens considering a vacation to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will now be charged up to CA$1,000 for visas.
The visa fee came into effect earlier this week. It does not apply to any other western country, leading to speculation on whether the UAE has taken this decision in retaliation against the Canadian government s refusal to increase UAE-based carriers Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines landing rights in Canada, according to a report in eTravel Blackboard.
