The Philippines Department of Tourism (DOT) is optimistic that a number of Indian tourists will travel to the country in 2011. This optimism is a result of the positive outcome of the DOT s five-day sales mission to India.
Benito C Bengzon Junior, assistant secretary, tourism, International Tourism Promotions, was quoted in eTurboNews as having said that the sales mission had proved to be an excellent platform to develop business ties with Indian tour agents. The sales mission was well-attended by an estimated 400-tour operators/travel agencies in New Delhi and Mumbai.
Maria Agnes Cervantes, minister and consul general, Philippine Embassy in New Delhi, and Retnasamy Swaminathan, Philippine honorary consul in Mumbai, both support the Indian travel trade.
