IndiGo orders 180 A320s

Indian low-cost airline IndiGo has placed an order for 180 Airbus A320s from the European aircraft manufacturer.

The delivery will begin in 2016 and continue till 2025. The order will cost the airline US$15.6-billion. Kiran Rao, executive vice president, marketing and contracts, and president, India, Airbus, was quoted in eTurboNews as having said that with this order, IndiGo had given a kick-start to aviation coming out from a down cycle.

IndiGo will use 100 of the 180 aircrafts to replace the currently used fleet, and use the remaining 80 to add capacity.
