Singapore Airlines (SIA) has decided to cancel its earlier plans to increase the frequency of flights to Christchurch during the winter season.
Jim Boult, chief executive, Christchurch International Airport (CIAL), was quoted in eTravel Blackboard New Zealand as having said that the earthquake had had an effect on in-bound traffic and they fully understood that the airline didn t see this as the right time to expand services. The airport has also accepted Air New Zealand s decision to discontinue the 27 trans-Tasman flights between Australia and Christchurch.
CIAL remains committed to working hard in implementing new strategies to attract business into Christchurch Airport and into the South Island.
