President David Grant of Cardiff University Visited NCEPU

On October 12th, Dr. David Grant, President of Cardiff University, Prof. Karen Holford, Dean of Engineering Department and Ms. Sandra Elliot, director of the Office of International Relations visited our school. Liu Jizhen, President of NCEPU, received the visiting British guests. Also presented at the meeting were Li Chengrong, Vice President of NCEPU, Wang Zengping, Dean of Electrical and Electronic Engineering School, Xu Hong, Dean of Energy and Power Engineering School, Niu Dongxiao, Dean of Business Administration School, Liu Yongqian, Director of International Cooperation Department, Duan Chunming, deputy dean of the International Education Department.
President Liu extended his warm welcome for President David and his party at the beginning of the meeting. He also gave a brief introduction of the NCEPU. He said that, NCEPU has two campuses, one in Beijing (the main campus) and the other in Baoding and there are a total of about 30,000 full-time undergraduates and graduates. Later, President David also introduced Cardiff University. He said that the Cardiff University has about 27,000 students, almost the same size as NCEPU. And among the 27,000 students, 3,400 of whom are international students, which account for 12% of the total number. President Liu mentioned that 24 students from NCEPU will pursue their studies in Cardiff University this year, and he hoped that the two universities will carry out more cooperation in other fields, for example, in business in the future. President David said that 24 students that are studying in the UK from NCEPU have made outstanding achievements and left him a deep impression. Cardiff University has a world-renowned business school, ranking fourth in the UK. He also hoped to carry out cooperation with NCEPU in business and other fields as well.

After the talks, President David and his party, led by Vice President Li Chengrong, visited the laboratories of Electrical and Electronic Engineering School. After that, President David and Prof. Karen made a wonderful report respectively for students from the Electrical and Electronic Engineering School and International Education School. Their reports are favorably received among the students.
