On the morning of September 7th, Vice President Hu Zhengrong met with the visiting foreign scholars for CUC-IJHS International Academic Seminar of International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication. Vice President Hu gave the guests a brief introduction to Communication University of China and the development of the education in media. He also elaborated on the sports dissemination research as well as the research in other sectors concerning the cultural creativity industry of CUC.
After hearing the report about this seminar from Institute of Communication Studies, Vice President Hu pointed out that CUC had initiated the first demestic sports dissemination research center in China. This seminar was jointly organized by CUC and the International Journal of the History of Sport published by Routledge, an International publication group with international prestige , with vigorous support from Olympics Research Center of International Olympic Committee. It greatly broadened the academic space for CUC in the international sports dissemination. Simultaneously Higher Education League in Media and Communication initiated by CUC could effectively promote the exchanges between research institutions or universities. He hoped that the present scholars could contribute to the cooperation between CUC and their research institutions or universities in faculty exchange, student exchange, scientific research cooperation, and curriculum exchange, especially in their joint application for international level academic funding project.
The scholars agreed with Vice President Hu and thanked his and CUCs support to this CUC-IJHS International Academic Seminar of International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication. Professor Roy Panagiotopoulou, the Director of Political Communication Department of School of Communication of the National and Capodistrian University of Athens and the Executive President of Communication Education Association of Europe Union, indicated that he was willing to promote the exchange and the scientific research project cooperation between various universities in European Union and International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication CUC managed. Dr. Kevin Latham, the professor of the School of Oriental and African Studies at University of London, expressed the hope that the two universities could carry on the postgraduate candidate exchanges and build the international curriculum- the Chinese media .
Based on their respective communication research project, the attending representatives separately expressed their view about the interflow and cooperation with CUC. Their research projects include the Trans-Culture Communication of University of Western Sydney, the Media Anthropology of Inje University, Digital Multimedia Cultural Heritage Communication of University of Athens and so on.
Later, Professor Roy Panagiotopoulou signed the declaration of International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication on behalf of University of Athens, which became the 40th member university of the International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication which was initiated by CUC.
Prof. Liu Liqun, Director of Institute of Communication Studies, and Prof. Roy Panagiotopoulou, Director of School of Communication of University of Athens, signed "Cooperation Memorandum" on behalf of their respective college. These two colleges will launch the cooperation on the scholar exchange, the student exchange as well as the academic project cooperation and so on.
After the meeting, these attending scholars visited School of Animation of CUC .
The others present at the meeting and the signing ceremony were Liu Chang, Deputy Director of Institute of Communication Studies, Zhang Yanqiu, Deputy Secretary of CUC Party Branch, Luo Qing, Executive Director of this seminar, Liang Yan, Deputy Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Department, and Lin Zhouying, Project Supervisor.
The foreign scholars attending this meeting of the seminar were Prof. Roy Panagiotopoulou, Director of Political Communication Department of School of Communication of University of Athens, Director David Rowe and Prof. Debory Stevens from Culture Research Center of University of Western Sydney in Australia, Prof. Fran oise PAPA, Director of the laboratory of media communication of Universit Stendhal Grenoble3, Prof. Shin-pyo Kang from Inje University in Korea, Prof. Anne-MarieBrady from University of Canterbury in New Zealand, Dr. Kevin Latham from the School of Oriental and African Studies at University of London, Dr. Sandra Collins from California State University-Chico in US and Prof. Anna Bresstina from University of Florence.
