On the morning of April 12, the School of International Education (IE) held a series of activities to mark Songkran Festival for the students from Prince of Songkla University of Thailand. Mr. Artaporn Puthikampol, agent of Thai Consulate in Guangzhou, attended the celebration.
After the water-sprinkling blessing ceremony, Thai overseas students presented a wonderful show for the audience, including skillful dulcimer solo, Thai folk dances and songs etc. Besides, they also prepared delicate Thai traditional food, attracting many students to have a taste. The highlight of the celebration was the "water splashing war". It lasted for nearly 2 hours with about 200 teachers and students taking part in. The activity promoted the communication between Chinese and Thai students, and deepened their friendship.
It is the third year that IE holds activities of the same sort for the Thai students. The School responsible personnel said that folk activities not only enriches the spare life of the overseas students, but also creates a home atmosphere for them.
