A new contract of supplying 93 wagons for Australia came into effect recently, which marks the total number of wagon ever exported to Australia by CNR reached 1,019 wagons. In 2005, CNR contracted 543 wagons with Australia, which exceeds the accumulative total 476 wagons from 1999 to 2004. This fact means that CNR realize forward-leaping development and CNR wagon quality and export ability reached a high level.
The wagons for Australia includes the container flat wagons, articulated container wagons, double-deck container wagons, coal hopper wagons, grain hopper wagons and ballast hopper wagons. They accept the "standard" AAR wheel set of 250-kilonewton axle force as used in Australia. The axle load are 22~30 ton and the design speed is 120km/h. The wagon bogies are of a diagonal linked side frames design with cushioned bearing saddles, providing for exceptional ride quality and minimal flange wear. The cushioned bearing saddles do allow for steering and, as a consequence, the wagons roll very freely and quietly. They are giving good service and are warmly welcomed in Australia. Therefore new contract are awarded year by year.
