The Experiment and Research on Mixing Concrete with Tailing Sand turned out to be a success recently in China First Metallurgical Construction Corporation (CFMCC).
At present, natural sand is the major resource for construction purposes. However, this resource is not renewable and the shortage and difficulty of long-distance transportation have caused great conflict between supply and demand. Besides, the price will increase with more market demands. On the other hand, the tailings produced from the mining process were not utilized and had to be piled around the mines, causing great problems including air pollution.
This new technology of mixing tailing sand to make cement has solved the problem of resource shortage; this will also enhance the quality of building materials. As the natural sand becomes more difficult in transportation and even more expensive with time, the novel process of making cement with tailings will have greater advantages in terms of its price and easy application, and will therefore enjoy a good market ahead.
