The Symposium was opened on 13th October at the Dalin Xinghai Holiday Hotel. It was sponsored by the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Dynamics of DICP, and was financially supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Natural Science Foundation Committee of China, DICP, and well-known international publishers of Taylor & Francis Group, ACS Publications, and PCCP.
Chairman of the Symposium was Prof. YANG Xueming of DICP. About 40 scholars from abroad and 130 scientists and graduate students from China participated in the Symposium.
The themes of the Symposium included experimental and theoretical studies of gas phase, boundary and condensed phase stereodynamics, and the main focus was on the exchanging of newest progresses made in these research areas.
Main exchange activities were conducted via invited lectures, hot-topic presentations and poster sessions. In the opening ceremony, Prof. Steven Stollte of the Vrije University, the Netherlands, was awarded with the Bernstein Prize, which was established in honor of the late Prof. Richard Bernstein for his creative contributions to the stereodynamic researches. After accepting the award, Prof. Stollte gave a lecture with the title of "Rotationally inelastic collisions inducing electronic transitions in hexapole state selected NO-molecules ."
