International Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis Symposium Opened in Dalian

The 5th International and 7th China-Japan Joint Symposium on Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis & Exhibition (CATS2008) was held at the Xinghai Holiday Inn of Dalian on 19th and 20th of May. The symposium was co-chaired by Prof. ZHANG Tao, Director of DICP, and Prof. SUN Lixian, DICP.

About 200 participants were present in the symposium, including 60 scientists from 15 countries other than China, such as USA, France, Japan, Germany, Russia, Hungary, Portugal, etc. Among the distinguished scientists attending the symposium were Prof. Jean-Pierre Grolier, Chairman of IACT(International Association of Chemical Thermodynamics), Prof. Michael Frenkel, Member of Directing Board of IACT, Prof. Akira Inaba, Chairman of Japan Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis Society, Prof. Judit Simon, Editor in Chief of Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, and Dr. Christoph Schick, Editor of Thermochimica Acta.

A total of 253 papers were presented in the symposium, among them were 12 plenary lectures, 48 session reports, and the others posters. Prof SUN Lixian of DICP was one of the plenary lecturers, giving a presentation on the topic of materials thermo-chemistry.
