Changsha Municipal People's Government and the Publicity Department of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee jointly held a lantern carnival at the Hunan Martyrs Park in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province, Feb. 16, 2011.

Ten groups of lanterns such as "King of the Palace Lantern", "the Auspicious Rabbit Year" and "Jade Rabbit Greeting the Spring" are exhibited at the lantern fair.

"King of the Palace Lantern" which is 10 meters tall and 10 meters wide is the largest one of its kind in exhibition. It is made by 16 craftsmen from Zigong City of Sichuan Province with 10 days' efforts. It was shown to the visitors on the evening of the Lantern Festival (Feb. 17).

The inner part of the lantern is of steel frame structure. The outside of the lantern is covered by eight-beauty satin a kind of cloth used in the imperial palace of ancient China. On the lantern, visitors could see scenic attractions of the Hunan Martyrs Park. When the lantern is on at night, people could see it in high-rise buildings even several miles around.
