On the morning of October 25, the unveiling ceremony for the Robotics Institute of Changhzou University was held in the Seventh Conference Room. People invited to attend the ceremony included Cai Hegao, academician member of Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor at Harbin Institute of Technology, Chen Jianxin, deputy director from Changzhou Bureau of Technology , Zhu Xiangyang, vice dean of School of Mechanical Engineering at Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhao Jie, vice dean of School of Electrical Engineering and Automation at Harbin Institute of Technology, Qu Dongsheng, general manager of Changzhou Mingsai Robot Technology Company Limited. Shi Guodong, Party Secretary of Changzhou University, Sun Xiaoqiang, the vice president, the heads of School of Information Science and Engineering and the faculty of the Robotics Institute also attended the ceremony.
On the basis of the Center for Intelligent Robots and the Center for Parallel Robots, the new Institute is established by integrating resources inside and outside of Changzhou University. Cai Hegao, the academician, is appointed as the honorary director of the Institute. The Institute will focus its research on micro-drive robots and micro-operation robots, robots for petroleum and chemical engineering, parallel robots, service robots and robot vision. Among the 12 faculty members, there is one academician, three professors, seven researchers with PhDs, and one with Master degree. The Institute will keep a close watch on the recent development of robotics, satisfy the needs of key national projects and combine the teaching and research with the petroleum industry and the local economy.
