2nd Session of 7th CCZU Teacher s Congress Kicks Off(44464)

March 21^st, 2011. The second session of the 7^th Changzhou University Teacher s Congress kicked off in the national anthem. The meeting has 141 formal teacher s representatives, 31 non-voting delegates and 12 specially invited delegates. Seven school leaders attended the opening ceremony, which was chaired by Professor Jiang Bibiao, Vice President of CCZU.

In his opening speech, Professor Sun Xiaoqiang, Vice President of CCZU, noted that the Teacher s Congress plays a vital in the running of the university, which highly motivates teachers and protects their rights. The meeting will shape the future development of CCZU toward the goal of a research-based institution with multi-disciplines.

Professor Pu Yuzhong, President of CCZU, summarized in his speech the achievements of CCZU in the past two years, which covers the improvement and progress in teaching quality, teachers capabilities, academic disciplines and scientific research. He stressed that the past two years witnessed rapid development of CCZU and in the upcoming years CCZU should further its endeavors. The university must quicken its steps and achieve an all-around improvement through innovation. CCZU will focus on the four aspects of teaching quality, outstanding talents, leading disciplines and self-innovation. In the 12^th five-year plan period, the university will step up its efforts in the integration of education, research and commercialization, and enhance its competitive edge. The President also pointed out that it is doubtless a responsibility of all school staff to promote the development of CCZU and the Teacher s Congress will play an active role during the process.

At the meeting, the delegates submitted the 2010 financial reports, and elaborated on some new school regulations and the election of CCZU Labor Union members.
