The Progress of International Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS 2010 XI AN) sponsored by Northwestern Polytechnical University and the Eelectromagnetics Academy of Massachusetts Institute of Technology was held in Xi an from March 22 though 25. NPU President Professor Jiang Chenyu was the Honorary Chairman of PIERS 2010, and NPU Professor Xu Jiadong was the chairman of this Organizing Committee.
More than 600 scholars, including over 300 overseas scholars from 50 countries participated PIERS 2010, and 20 IEEE Fellows gave lectures in this symposium. The Symposium has provided a good platform for scholars to present their state-of-the-art research findings. There were 20 sessions on electromagnetic theory, antenna, microwave, computational electromagnetics, and many others.
Electromagnetics develops rapidly and plays an important supporting role in aeronautics, astronautics, information acquisition, and telecommunications. In recent years, new research findings such as "stealth cloak" have received world-wide attention.
