Dr. Zhonglin Wang, professor of Georgia Institute of Technology and a foreign member of Chinese Academy of Sciences CAS , was granted an appointment letter as overseas director of Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics by Prof. Li Peigen on Jan 11, 2010.
Dr. Wang is a world renowned expert on nanotechnology. His appointment will facilitate WNLO's research in this field.
About Dr. Wang
Dr. Zhonglin Wang is a Regents' Professor, Distinguished Professor of College of Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology.
He is a foreign member of CAS and a member of European Academy of Sciences. Dr. Wang has received the 1999 Burton Medal from Microscopy Society of America, 2009 Purdy award from American Ceramic Society, 1998 NSF CAREER award, 1998 China-NSF Oversea Outstanding Young Scientists Award, 2000 and 2005 Georgia Tech outstanding research award, 2005 Sigma Xi Sustained Research Award, 2001 S.T. Li prize for outstanding contribution in nanotechnology. He is a Cheung Kong guest professor of the Ministry of Education, P.R.China.
Dr. Wang was elected to a fellow of American Physical Society in 2005, fellow of AAAS in 2006, and fellow of Materials Research Society.
He has authored and co-authored four scientific reference and textbooks and over 610peer reviewed journal articles 13 in Nature and Science , 55 review papers and book chapters, edited and co-edited 14 volumes of books on nanotechnology, and held 20 patents and provisional patents. Dr. Wang has been invited to over 600 academic lectures and keynote speeches. His entire publications have been cited for over 31,000 times. The H-index of his publications is 86.
Dr. Wang has made significant contributions to nanotechnology. His breakthrough researches are innovative and pioneering. His primary research accomplishments focus on:self-powered nanodevices, synthesization, mechanism and application of zinc oxide nanostructures, theories and applications in nanosenser and novel devices and fiber-based three-dimensional concealed solar cell.
