On the evening of March 14, the 2010 Cherry Concert for the friendly communication between China and Japan was held at the Lecture Hall of Building One in this romantic season with rain.

The concert included three sessions, which were Japanese songs, Chinese songs, and sons from other countries. Most of them were very familiar to the audience and brought them excellent enjoyment. This concert, presented by HUST and Japanese Music Research Association of Wuhan was jointly promoted by the Manchester Chinese Centre and greatly supported by the public. In addition, a scroll was specially written for this concert by a calligrapher living in Oita City of Japan.

The concert begun with the song Cherry presented by the Wuhan Galaxy Chorus, which was initiated by our Japanese friend, Ms. Ishibasishizuko who has been living in Wuhan for a long time. She also actively promoted this concert. According to Mr. Wang Le, a member of the chorus, the Cherry Concert has a long tradition and it was held at HUST for two years running. Wearing white kimonos, Mr. Miyazaki fumio and Mrs. Miyazaki nagako gave a beautiful traditional Japanese Tsurusaki Dance.

The Students Art Troupe of HUST also presented traditional Chinese music and dances. And teachers from the Wuhan Conservatory of Music sang the Chanson du Toreador from the Carmen.

It is said that the Cherry Concert will be held continually to promote cultural communication between Chinese and Japanese people.
