ESI, Essential Science Indicators, is a metrological analysis database, established by USA on the basis of SCI and SSCI with their 11000 Academic Journals and 10 million Documentaries respectively from around the world. Above all, there is a list of international disciplines in ESI. The listed disciplines are the ones arranged in the first 1% of all the disciplines based on the cited times of their academic theses in the recent 10 years.
Now, there are 22 disciplines set up in ESI with respect to their characteristics, like Agricultural Science, Biology & Biochemistry, Chemistry, Clinical Medicine and Computer Sciences, etc. So far, HUST has six disciplines listed in the international disciplines of ESI, including Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Clinical Medicine, Material Science and Computer Science.
