The Sci & Tech International Cooperation Base plaque ceremony and the 10th ceremony of China-UK Joint Laboratory were held at HUST on Dec 12.
Mr Jin Xiaoming, director general of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, said, the award of the accreditation is the result of Hubei's scientific development and the strength of HUST and the joint lab.
Dr Lu Gang, chairman of the university board, said, the accreditation is an event for HUST's scientific work and an opportunity for the University to enhance its independent innovative capacity by making use of international scientific resources.
Prof He Guangyuan, director of the International Cooperation Base, noted the joint lab has embarked on a brilliant decade and will continue to promote scientific research in future.
China-Uk joint laboratory, established in 2000, is the first laboratory jointly built by China and UK. The lab aims to enhance crop output and resistance, improve crop quality and promote the research on crops functional genomics. The lab is committed to developing a world level plant biotechnology research center and talents cultivation center. In 2008, the lab was recognized as a major institution to undertake national major project "breeding of genetically modified organisms".
