On Oct.4th, 2010, the Sino-Germany Laser Innovative Symposium was held in Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics. It is the first time that a Sino-Germany laser meeting was held in Wuhan. About 150 experts and enterprisers of this area attended the meeting.
Dr. Reinhart Poprawe, professor of OFER Laser Research Institution, and Luo Qingming, vice president of HUST, addressed the symposium successively. In the address, they spoke highly of the scientific achievements of laser technology and industrialization in Hubei Scientific Research Base , Sino-Germany Scientific Education Year held in recent years, Germany and China---Moving Ahead Together: Wuhan Station and other exchanging activities. Meanwhile, they also praised Germany's progress in optics and photoelectron area, especially in the area of superpower laser-processing system and its application.
Luo Qingming added that this was an international meeting jointly held by HUST and German scientific community and business circles, symbolizing a new stage of Sino-German cooperation in laser technology.
2010 Sino-German Laser Innovative and Strategic Symposium is a milestone, symbolizing the application of neo-generation industrial laser and constructing a platform for experts in laser from both countries to make exchanges. Also, it aims at strengthening the academic exchanges and industrial cooperation in the laser area of both countries. Many experts, professors and entrepreneurs are invited to this meeting.
In the meeting, they gave 35 academic lectures in total, about the lastest achievements and research direction in laser areas, including neo-solid smote slab lasers, disc lasers, semiconductor lasers, all-solid-state lasers, fiber lasers, laser micro-nano processing, laser micro-processing systems, laser medical systems, laser potential application, cultivation of talents in laser. Above all, these lectures will be significant for China s laser processing research and industry, facilitating a striding development in laser industry of China's Optical Valley in Wuhan.
